Want a afforable holiday in December.

Hi
Looking for some help/guidance. We (Husband, myself, 4 yeard old and 11 month old) would like to go on holiday departing anytime from 18 Dec arriving back before 2 Jan to somewhere fairly hot (mid 20's). We had Egypt in mind but the prices are really high, would I be better off waiting to nearer the time and hoping for a great last min deal or these prices going to be the same as it is the xmas break?
We wanted to have a holiday beofre I returned to work from maternity leave and are restricted on dates due to my daughters half term hols.
Any help appreciated.
