The Great Cheap Drugs Hunt!

Now it's getting towards winter and people are already starting to get sniffly, why don't we have a look for the cheapest medicine we can find...
Looking around there seems to be massive variations in the price, 16 paracetamol being anywhere from 16p to £1. Some places, especially convenient stores, are a rip off. Why should we pay over the odds to keep healthy.
So could we find the prices of any over-the-counter drugs, make sure you get the manufacturer, store, location (try to stick to national chains so we can all benefit), quantity, dosage (eg 200mg) and PRICE.
Looking for specifically...
Paracetamol
Ibruprofen
Asprin
I'll try to keep this post up to date, with prices, and if it gets going hopefully someone will sticky it!

I don't know anywhere cheap.. just expensive..

Living in a city - especially near a university means that ibuprofen and paracetamol are always a fortune and/or sold out.
I'm dying of cold and need "cold capsules - decongestant and paracetamol based" but no where near me has any under about £4 a pack!!
Any ideas?0 -
If you can get to an Asda,Sainsbury ,Tesco,Morrisons , Coop etc they all have their own brand cheap paracetemol - ibuprofen etc.
Do not bother with £4 cold cure drinks - Get paracetemol or ibuprofen and then make yourself a home made lemon juice and honey drink.
Dead cheap and just as good.
I hope you feel better soon .

I've got half a pack of ibuprofen left then I don't know what I'll do :S

I agree with Elona, 16 paracetamol or ibuprofen are under 30p in Tesco.
As for the honey and lemon I agree with Lellie.......I much prefer a hot whiskey with sugar lemon and a couple of cloves. Two paracetamol and one of these always works for me.

Galpharm Ibuprofen
Boots
16 tablets
200mg
37p
I was tempted to buy the boots own for 99p but as I compared similar products, they all had the same active ingredient so I plumped for the cheapest.Lurker extraordinaire! no. 4950

ok first post, got all motherly (somehow)
but hmmm be careful with ibuprofen. its well known for being quite bad for you, i've known at least 2 people who have sufferred very badly from using it as a paracetemol substitute. i'm not calling you stupid (one of the people was CEO of a major high street chain) but its very easy to rely on it to subdue pain when it would be in fact just be better to rest (the CEO in question was using it so he could play more squash - until he ended up in hospital with what was effectively a hole in his stomach).
So hey kids, two morals can be gained. 1) dont take it, or b) if you do take it, make sure you eat first.
sorry about the negativity but this prompted me into action. my post #2 is going to be overwhelimingly positive....0 -
Theres#'s a difference between taking a few over a couple of days to treat a cold etc and taking large doses to treat a more long-term injury.
You would be very unlucky to get stomach problems from taking ibuprofen just for a couple of days...They call me Mr Pig!0 -
If you're asthmatic you're not supposed to take asprin or ibuprofen.
Cheap places like Wilkinsons, Lloyds, bodycare etc all seem to do cheap drugs - I used to pay about 20p a pack. Now my daughter gets them from work for about 50p a hundred. With two teenage girls I get an awful lot of headaches!0 -
I thought there was a law limiting the amount of paracetamol you could buy at one time. I think to 32. How can your daughter buy 100 at one time.Waddle you do eh?0
