Hi,
could any of you good people recommend a cheap (obviously) hotel with parking, in or near Calais.
Thanks in advance..

I'd go to Boulogne. It's just down the coast but it's a lot nicer. Calais is a complete hell-hole IMO.

Ah, I see. Boulogne is the wrong direction then.

I maintain that Calais is a hell hole but then Belgian hotels are expensive IME.

I stayed at the Etap at Cite Europe a few weeks ago. Obviously not a fantastic hotel, but it's easy to get to, has parking, cheap and it did the job as a room for the night.
  • Cheapest is the Bonsai, opposite the train station, less than a mile from the port.
Next is Formule 1, then Premiere Classe, then Etap, then HotelB+B (2 of them), all further away next to or near Cite Europe.

I have to disagree with Calais being so bad. The town has had quite alot spent on it, now has a university, fantastic sports complex, great out of town shopping centre, new town indoor shopping centre, new cultural centre.

If your heading for Holland, why don't you stay somewhere like Gravelines, a short drive north of Calais and much nicer! I've stayed here, which was very nice - great Restaurant too!
