Faulty tv

Bought a tv from Currys 2 weeks ago the picture has disappeared. I can't find the guarantee, will they accept it back without it?.

  • How did you pay for it? If it was by credit/debit card then you can use the relevant bank statement. Also if you take some id, they may look on their sales database to trace your transaction.

Unfortunately it was cash, they took my name and address ( for tv licensing I presume ), so hopefully that will do. Just don't have a lot of confidence in currys.
  • Well if you take some ID and ask them to check their database. I used to be a currys SA and I used to do this for customers.

I imagine they would be ok with taking it back with no receipt, but I also think you'll have to accept a replacement as opposed to a refund. Additionally, I understand they would be responsible under the 28 day retail law to deal with your problem as opposed to saying you need to contact the manufacturer regarding the TV's warranty (Which sometimes happens to save them the hassle)

Thanks for all the help, went in this morning and they couldn't be more helpful. The assistant printed off a copy for me, am taking the tv in . They'll change it after checking fault, couldn't ask for more.
Will post in 5 star board later.

Not often you hear positives about Currys...
