Stag do, Krakow, Booking advice Please!

Afternoon all,

My friend is in the process of booking a 'stag-do' in Krakow for next May and I was wandering the best technique for arranging such an event so that we don't get totally ripped off!?

So far we've pretty much typed in 'stag do krakow' into google and then gone through a few British firms that arrange such things, however i have a funny feeling that there will be a big slice for these middlemen.

Has anyone ever booked through this type of company? Are the hotels OK? I'm expecting a little YMCA type hotel as i can't see your average hotel wanting to accomodate a stag do!

Also, my friend is quite anxious to book a few activities through these websites who insist that we need to book it now to avoid disappointment. I think they're 'BS ing' us as I believe that we will get the same events for half the price if we sort them ourselves when we're in Poland?

Has anyone got any advice to give?

I went in May this year - not a stag do but 6 lads together.

I the booked flight with Stelios's lot and the hotel via last minute.com. Had a very pleasant 4 days - wonderful city, excellent bars (especially the cellar bars) , beautiful women. Top drawer.

I stayed just outside the city at Hotel Chopin (cheaper on last minute than booking direct with hotel on their website) - a short tram ride from the main square. Decent breakfast included in the price. It's a decent 3 star type place - a bit dated but not bad overall.

Think I paid about £70 for the return flight and £110 for 3 nights B&B at the hotel.

As far as activities go I can't really comment as we just wandered around the city seeing stuff rather than paintballing or any of that malarky. However, I strongly recommend you go to Aushwitz and Birkenau - might seem a bit "heavy" for a stag do but I think it is essential. You can go on bus, train or just stand still in the main square and a tour guide will offer to give you an organised trip.

You might do better on the tripadvisor forum as far as specific advice goes.

  • we went a couple of years ago, book cheap flights as soon as they come available. We booked apartments via http://www.staypoland.com/. Lots of info on bars and clubs on http://www.inyourpocket.com/city/krakow.html
