thankyou..

I've just noticed alot of you responded to my first post last week after me having a strop about it, sorry! :D

I'm not having a good week. this is the week i pay CCCS (£444) and it has left me with about £11 until Friday to feed both me and my b/f! I have been in tears all day, i don't want to live like this for another 2 / 3 years. I went to the gym just there to try and make me feel better but i've run out of moisturiser and the skin on my face is so tight but i can't afford another.. I need to use clinique or nothing as my skin is very sensitive. Arghh!! I'll be going in to work tomorrow with a bright red face

We have some chicken left over from last night, so i'm going to buy some carrots (we have an onion and potatoes in) a few mushrooms and a chicken chasseur sauce thing and make a casserole for dinner, should be about £2.50, so that leaves £8.50 for the rest of the week..

I'm also just about to list about 12 items on ebay, I took the pics this a.m. while in floods of tears, so i now need to do the tedious bit and get them on there.. My b/f has given me a few good shirts that he doesn't wear anymore, like designer ones (hence why we have debt) so hopefully they should sell. He also has a mobile phone to sell but he needs to get it unlocked first, we watched the same one sell for £117 about a month ago so that will be fantastic if we get that amount.

I think, if you don't mind, i'm going to start a diary... I think this will definitely motivate me to try harder and watch my progress..

Sorry for the negative post and for rambling but it's how i feel today  and i'm sure you all understand more than anyone..

It does sound a bit tight with 11 to last you until friday. Have you just started your DMP? I think it does take a bit of time to get used to.
Perhaps a spending diary would help so you have enough money for food at the end of the month?
What about taking a set amount out in cash each week and when it's gone it's gone.
    Anyway - onwards and upwards.
If you get stuck with food head over to OldStyle and I'm sure they will give you some tips to make it all go further and friday is not that far away.
As you get into it I am sure things will get easier for you and you may get pay rises etc or be able to sell things and the debt free date will come even closer.
    Good Luck

definitely head over to the old-style board for help with meal planning and menus.

the key is also to bulk out with cheap ingredients - you have already done it with carrots etc. add beans, lentils, pearl barley etc too and make 4 or six portions to serve with mash or rice.

if you have a carcass boil it up with veg to make a soup/stock etc

    good luck x
  • Hi dancingfairy,
No i have been paying my DMP for about 2 years, it's just that this month i had 2 birthdays and a few unexpected bills so it has left me really short. Also i had my review done last week with CCCS and i am now paying £30 more every month..
I will check out oldstyle ( i forgot about that) and look at keeping a diary, thanks for the advice... roll on Friday!!

For moisturiser - try Waitrose's Baby bottom butter - honestly, it's great stuff and only contains natural ingredients like oil. Costs £2.99. I find it too rich to use during the day, but use it at night time.
  • Hi Nessie,
Unfortunately we don't have a Waitrose up here in Scotland, do we?
I really need to get something, I can't go without until Friday I will age my a 100 years if i do :rotfl: Thanks for recommending it though..
I think i might pay a visit to our local Boots and ask for a free sample of something just to get by.. I'm also out of cleanser so i used the soap dispenser thing at the gym today to wash my face so i don't think that has helped either, i'm sure it's similar to the stuff they use to strip paint :p
I've got the casserole in the oven, it smells nice, hopefully it'll taste just as good..
I haven't listed my items as yet on ebay, after dinner i'll sit down for the night and get them on, i'm sure it's a 5p listing still.. ends tonight if i remember, heres hoping..
    Thanks again!!

Just wanted to wish you good luck.

I'm not recommending it generally but Asda do 7p noodles - my kids adore them. Asda and Tescos have 30p a loaf bread - you could have a few toasted cheese sandwiches. How about a few omelettes or scrambled egg on toast perhaps with beans.... You can make the £11 last if you meal plan to the nth degree. If you go on mysupermarket.com - you could feed in the chief ingredients you want to buy and it will tell you whether it is cheaper at Tesco or Asda and which is the cheapest within the shop. I saved pounds that way.... You don't have to buy your shopping thro mysupermarket to use it for pricing. It even lets you print your list....

Try the storecupboard challenge on the old style board they will give you suggestions for meal planning if you have anything at all in...

  • It sounds like you are getting it together and I'm sure you will make it through till Friday, Like Savingholmes said, a couple of nights having beans or cheese on toast won't cost much, instead of dwelling on that though, I would concentrate on getting those things listed on ebay, it sounds like it might make you a decent profit - Good luck!

  • Savinghlomes,
thanks for the food advice, those noodles popped into my head today, i remember eating them from Lidles and they were lovely.. 7p wow!!
I've got some frozen chips in the freezer and the usual stuff like rice and pasta in the cupboard.. The only thing is we have a wedding soon and i wanted to lose a bit of weight but it looks like i will need to postpone eating the healthy stuff until Friday. I'm going to hit the gym every day this week, always something to take my mind off the dreaded week ahead..

The good thing is my b/f has a few meetings this week with clients and he can take them out for lunch/dinner and use the companies credit card so for 2 nights i may just have to buy for myself.. :j

    Cheers!!
  • Oh, I wish I read your post earlier, I had a bathroom clean out and threw away quite a lot of samples of various creams that I don't use.

But your idea about going to Boots to ask for samples is brilliant. If you have a major department store near you, you could do the same at their cosmetic counters. I usually say that my skin is super sensitive (which it is), so I have to try before I buy.

Good luck, I am sure you'll make it!

If you have a Tesco nearby - their value range of things like cleanser and moisturiser are very reasonably priced, and I find them quite nice (not as heavy as some - and not terribly perfumed so not so likely to cause sore skin) otherwise, you could try Vaseline as a moisturiser, of if your local chemists/health food shop sell little bottles of almond oil it is wonderful stuff as a moisturiser, full of vitamin e! Baby oil or baby lotion are probably the other best products for cleansing. Oil cleansing is all the rage these days and there is a thread on it somewhere.

As to food - the OS board has masses of recipes for cheap AND healthy meals - the modern ideas on "healthy eating" are also fairly expensive: many of the older dishes are just as healthy, but use cheaper ingredients:D

    Good luck!
