First time shopping at Sainsbury's

I have always shopped at Asda, however last night I had the night off work and before settling down to watch The X-Factor, decided to go out and get some nibbles for the telly. I fancied a change so drove an extra couple of minutes up the road to Sainsbury's who I thought might have a few different things in. They had a great range of chocolate and as a truffle lover, fancied some of the Bailey's Truffle chocolate bar, and while I was there picked up their own Coconut cream filled chocolate bar plus a tiny pot of Haagen Daaz. I was treating myself
I settled down to watch TXF eating my Bailey's chocolate when I thought it was a bit plain tasting. I flipped the box over to see a white sticker with the date on it.. "Sep 08". Out of date. Meh nevermind, put it in the kitchen and start on the rather scrummy sounding Taste The Difference Coconut Cream filled chocolate, sharing it with my mum. It was covered in a sticky residue so again, checked the date. The date on the second bar was the same as the Bailey's bar..."Sep 08".
Luckily have kept the receipts so they'll be going back at some point tomorrow. Dreadful first experience at Sainsbury's.

Just take the 2 back and you will get your money back, it shouldnt have happened but it did, everyone makes mistakes, maybe theyre short staffed in the code checking area0

If the chocolate wrapper had a sticky residue, then why didn't you put it back down and pick up a new one before you paid for it?0

Too late, the sofas taken, I'm booked in:D
On a serious note, I was in asdas a couple of weeks ago (I shop everywhere) & I picked up some mexican tortillas sets & for some reason I checked the sell by dates, I usually only do that with fridge & fruit'n'veg and they were well out of date.
Saw three Asda employees (I think one was the manager) & I pointed it out to them.
Can happen anywhere, except I bet it doesn't happen in Marks or Waitrose;)0 -
I think you're in luck. Go back assertively and I bet you will come away with some free goods or Sainsbury's vouchers.....
Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -

It does happen in Marks - I had to point out to a member of staff about a prawn noodle dish being out of date (imagine what a dodgy prawn could do:eek: ). I don't think I have ever purchased out of date food. I check everything even tinned goods:rotfl: .The shinbone is a device for finding furniture in a dark room.:TBig thanks to all competition posters:T0 -

I popped into my local Sainsbury's on Friday eve to get a couple of bits (friends round for dinner). The basket checkout was soooo long and very stupidly assigned to one of the small checkouts, ie room to pack half a bagfu, whilst a number of other tills with long conveyor belts were open. I asked the cashier why there weren't more tills open and she said there were no staff (this is a massive Sainsburys) but they were due to have an open day on the Saturday to recruit Christmas temps.
PS I also succumbed to the Haagen Daz at £2.50 and whilst this is cheaper than usual it is hardly a bargain for a 1/2 litre of ice-cream! Ben & Jerrys is tastier and was at a much better price at Morrisons a couple of weeks ago.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

thats the problem they either dont have enough staff or they dont have the staff in at the right time but i think it might be due to not enough staff as the scheduling system should put staff in at the right time0
