Help please - store cards

Options
Did the most stupid thing possible when I came back from travelling and opened up a store card. The money has built up to a significant (!) amount due to me being careless/stupid. Doubt I will be able to do a balance transfer on a 0% interest credit card because I have a couple of recent outstanding bank charges, which will have altered my credit rating.

Currently waiting for my student loan to come through; not sure how long this will take, maybe four weeks? As soon as it's through I will have to pay off my outstanding balance but until then is there anyway I can transfer the money on my store card to another card where interest isn't as high and I can pay off small payments to clear it?

Your help appreciated,
Silly Clair

Does it matter what the balance is? Rather not share.

If you already have a credit card, ring them up and ask if you can do a balance transfer - often for an existing card they will not do a credit check if t's within your card limit.

When you call them, ask if they can do a deal on a balance transfer - might not be 0% but might be less than standard rate (and certainly less than store card rates).

Yes I do have one with halifax and I'll see if they can do a balance transfer for me. It won't be 0% but you're right, it can't be as much as a store card. I'll try it. Cheers!
