Hi All
I wonder if someone can help, I have been away for nearly 4 months and was sent a bill, this all seemed ok, but I thought I would read my meter and call through to British gas anyway. I was told my new bill would be for £600? I asked how this was possible as I had been away during the summer. June through to October. After speaking to a very rude and mouthy Custumer complaints dept she told me to check my meter everyday for 7 days but she didn't think there was a problem with the meter. I then asked her to calculate the units in monetary terms for the times I had been away. She came back with a sum of £447, from july to Oct. How can this be possible when my property had been empty during this time? My readings are something like 2 08957 & 1 17855. Am now at my wits end its now winter so in theory the next few months should be double that cost. I have eon 7, and its a 1 bedroom flat. How can I prove that there is a problem? Nobody else used my property by the way.
thx

Most likely reason for this is that your June reading was estimated. You have read your meter now - when was the last actual reading before that? Look back at past bills and look for readings that don't have (C) Customer or (E) Estimated next to them.0

Also check that they have the day night reads the right way round - mixing them up could make the bill bigger.0

thxAfter the uprising of the 17th June The Secretary of the Writers Union
Had leaflets distributed in the Stalinallee Stating that the people
Had forfeited the confidence of the government And could win it back only
By redoubled efforts. Would it not be easier In that case for the government
To dissolve the people
And elect another?0 -
Thanks for your comments everyone! I will keep you all posted but so far they are trying to say that the meter is correct. I'll be taking this further.
