I was three days late paying my Amex Platinum card and on the next statement was charged 25.00 "late payment fee" + 25.95 interest. I phoned them to complain and was pleasantly surprised when they immediately said that because of my previous "impeccable" payment record they would credit me with both amounts on my next statement. So if you do get these sort of charges it is definitely worth complaining.

Most credit card companies will give you a free hit, missed a payment on an MBNA card once and they didn't even charge me the late payment fee!2p off is still 2p off!0
