wrong paypal email used on item

My daughter recently sold an item on ebay unfortunately she made an error on her paypal email address. The buyer sent the payment and my daughter sent her the item before she realised the error on the paypal email.

The payment is now waiting to be claimed from her ebay account but she cannot claim the money because the email address that the payment was sent too doesn't exist!

So any ideas please?

Is it at all possible to get hold of the email address and then add it to the paypal account>? This would work for any email address that is capable of being valid that has not already been used by another person.

If not then the payment, unless claimed by another person who does hold that email address, will bounce back to the buyer after 30 days. You would then need to grovel a lot to buyer to ask them to resend.

I have sent an email to the buyer to see if the original payment can be canceled and to resend a new payment to the correct email address.

    I hope they oblige

It is unlikely that the payment can be cancelled unfortunately.

If the payment says "unclaimed" you can cancel it yourself.

I have done this 3 times today as I have just won an auction, but the seller has changed his email address (changed isp) and hes having troubole updating ebay/paypal so the payment goes to the correct address.

OP is the seller and has no access to this payment, so they obviously can't cancel it.

The buyer should be able to claim the payment back and make payment to the correct address.

I did a similar thing when I changed ISP - I changed my address everywhere but ebay managed to retain the old one somewhere and list it on one of my auctions. The buyer claimed back the payment and then sent it on to me.

Obviously I left +ve feedback and was suprised that the buyer did too.
