No not really, you just need to set the privacy and security levels to stop sites installing addons, cookies etc without your express permission. That's the route they often take to get into your PC, but its trivial to prevent those attacks, but does take some effort because some of the sites you want to use insist you enable cookies.

Just regularly run a virus scanner and also scan for "adware" and you will be OK

  • I'm still not confident that all first emails have gone out properly.

A lot of people still hadn't received their first email by close of business on friday. They were then invited to email FSCS to then receive an automated response that frankly doesn't mean that we are on their radar.

I appreciate that FSCS have a huge job to do, but I would have rathered they extended the timescale of their initial email and got to everyone eventually, than this feeling I get that I have been fobbed off with an automated message that I had to initiate.

An excellent point - eloquently put. Without "first contact" coming from them (and not an email robot auto-reply), the wait for the 2nd email has to be an anxious one._pale_

Problem with that is the person who reads it might think "cheeky sod" and make you wait longer! :D

    I think it was a very tongue-in-cheek statement ;)

  • I thought that I had not received the first email from FSCS, but have just found it in my Hotmail 'junk' folder, for those who have not received the email it may be worth checking your 'junk' folder. I have now added FSCS to my safe senders list.

So, once again, people are trying to find a logic in a random process (surname, dates, account numbers...), and we'll have 10 pages of silly posts

You could, you know, not subscribe/not look at the threads concerned.

Myself and wife use different surnames but the same email address, anyone got any advice regarding who should log on if one email arrives addressed to "Dear Icesave customer" or similar. Our first emails arrived together but It was irrelevant in that case.
This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !
