Northern Lights -any good trips?

Don't go expecting to see the lights - they are unpredictable and you could spend several weeks somewhere and still not see them

I saw them in Alaska several nights in a row during a September. I think I was just lucky. Make sure you go somewhere to see them that there is plenty to do rather than just going to see them, there's no guarantee.

We went to Iceland the weekend after Icesave collapsed (Icelandair package - booked in July). Not brilliant for us (we both had our ISAs with them :eek: ) but the Northern Lights did put on a fantastic show for us, just outside Reyjyavik.

All in all, it was one of the best weekends away we've ever had. Iceland is a lot cheaper these days, too!

I have flown from LAX 5 times, about 3 times i have seen the Northern Lights over NE Canada - beautiful.

northern finland - you can usually get some good last min deals there in Jan - again, not assurances that you will see them but they do often show up
