Anyone from Yorkshire? Baby friendly things to do

Hi
We are going on holiday near Pickering in Yorkshire and are looking for ideas of what to do as i cant seem to find much online. Although its our honeymoon its all about our beautiful baby girl
i looked into Flamingo Land (for the animals) and Alton Tours (this one was more out of desperation!!) but they are both closed.
There is a place called Eureka with a couple of baby focused things in Halifax but is it worth a 86 mile trip there, and the same back?
Any suggestions most welcome, thanks

Forget about Eureka - waste of time and money.
For a 10mth old - since she will be happy doing anything that involves you then i suggest you start to look at some of the beautiful parks we have or the coastline.
Being in Pickering is ideal to visit gems such as Castle Howard which would be lovely in Autumn, or Scarborough with its amusements and rides and great beach - maybe even brave a ride out to sea on a boat.
Walk round Bridlington Harbour with hot fish and chips smothered in mushy peas.
You could visit York - arguably one of the most beautiful places in Yorkshire.
The problem you face is most places for kids tend to be for older kids. If it were me and a 10 mth old id be more looking to spending quality time together in some beautiful surroundings and locations as oppose to gearing something directly for the baby - which imo you would struggle to do at this time of year.0 -
Thanks for the suggestions, quality time together is exactly what we want, we were thinking feeding the ducks in the park, finding a lovely play area to take her on the swings etc but this sort of thing is really hard to find online and maybe best to ask about once we get there?
We would of liked to have taken her to a visitor attraction with some animals or even rides if we couldnt find any animals for a bit of a change from peace and quiet all week iyswim
To be honest i didnt think Scarbourgh had rides and amusements so never bothered looking it up - this will be a definate on our list as im sure we can spend a whole day there.
Any suggestions for quiet parks or play areas? I love my gorgeous little girl

If you go to Scarborough there is Peasholm park and the Sea Life centre.
Depending on how far you want to travel you could go to Chester Zoo, or Knowsley Safari park (prob a 2 hr drive from Pickering)0 -
Just looked up Scarbourgh and there is quite a few things listed on their site. There are a couple of smaller animal farms and a small steam train from Peasholm park which would be nice for her, not too expensive and a nice change.
I think 2 hours is a little too far to drive - i dont like her in the car seat for too long!
Thanks for suggestions x:heart: I love my gorgeous little girl

Dalby forest is lovely. You pay to take the car in, & once inside there are lots of playgrounds, walks, cycle trails (you can rent these there).

North York Moors railway. Probably will interest your new husband more
, but even girls like trains. Some of the trains run all the way to Whitby - it's a lovely beach , but will be rather bracing at this time of year. 0 -

you didn't say when you are going but if its in the next few months be aware that the mini railway only operates at weekends (apart from holiday periods) from now until March0 -
Forest and Railway are excellent ideas Sooz thank you. Wdyw we are going a week today, the day after our wedding.
I dont think i have ever been anywhere in Yorkshire even though we are only up in Durham but everywhere looks so pretty and relaxing, i cant wait to get there now

The NYMR is a good bet for a few hours. Not sure of the timetable at the moment but you can see it online. If you do go to the seeside then it will be most likely be bracing if anything else. Isn't there a Sealife Centre at Scarborough. What about a day out in York. There is a P&R scheme just off the A64 which is from Pickering.**BERTIE**Did you Know: It costs more than £325,000 a day to run the lifeboat service? (with no government funding) Please donate to the RNLI0
