Mixer shower/combi boiler

I have recently installed a new mixer shower which is connected to a combi boiler. I am having problems with the temperature. If the heating isnt on then the shower runs cold but as soon as I switch the heating on it warms up. This is OK for now but in the summer it will be a night   mare!!!! HELP!!!!
It is plumbed in straight to the boiler.

when you say mixer shower, do you mean one connected to the taps? if so, we have a smilar problem. ive asked various plumbers what the prob could be, and they just guess at it being a prob with back pressure to the boiler, making it think the water it is sending out is hot enough.
cant say i have noticed that i need to heating on for it to be hot enough, as in the winter we have the heating on all the time, but in the summer, i want colder showers, so prob dont mind the water not being hot anyway
i really think combi boilers are such a pain, you can only use the washing machine on cold fill (bloody expensive), you cant just buy any old shower to attach to it and power showers are a no-no.

Do you mean something like this...http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.jsp?cId=100595&ts=59943&id=76624 with a thermostatic mixing valve?Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0

Our shower is the same from our combi boiler. There is a switch on it that you can set to timed heating and water, off, or hot water only. We just have to remember to switch to hot water only and back again after using it. Not ideal but gets around radiators being on in summer!0

You should get hot water from the boiler whether the heating is on or not! I've had 2 combi boilers and although i've never had a mixer shower, the washing machine has always been hot and cold fill, surely if you've connected your w/machine to the hot water it will fill with hot water(I could be wrong!!). Our 1st boiler admittedly was crap (always breaking down) it had a winter and summer switch on it to turn the heating off in the summer. Our 2nd was a condensing boiler and was temperature controlled so the heating would only kick in if the temp dropped below the temp you set it at to kick in.0

i think if you read your combi boiler manual it will say do not connect washing machines to the hot water system
perhaps newer ones are different, but every combi i have used, always states the above.

Have fitted manyCombi boilers and most have washing machines that were connected to old systemand still work fine. The shower problem could be not enough flow from the shower to activate boiler. You can also get specific showers for combi boilers.
Good luck to you all.The world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0
