ORANGE PAYG - 15p everytime you get someone's voicemail, even if you hang up!

Just been checking some usage history online for kids' phones.

Being able to see usage history for Orange PAYG is a new phenomenum, and not one they started offering voluntarily I bet.

I top them up £5 at a time, but Orange take 15p for failed calls - they take everytime you call someone and voicemail answers whether you leave a message or not. That's a rip off, pure and simple.

When will those lethargic, five-years-behind-the-curve people at Oftel get off their backsides, and smack down the telecoms thieves properly ?

When the call goes through to voice mail it is a connected call and payable, unfortunately. Hang up before it gets to voicemail.

The same is true for every orher phone co in the UK and it even happens when you get get connected to an answerphone and VM is effectively the same as these.

Yep gotta agree its not a rip off as the call has been connected, the same if you call someone on a BT line and they have 1571 , maybe change to Asda Mobile at 8ppm & 4p per text ?

  • Surely its in the T&C's that theres a minimum connection fee and sound of it that's Orange's minimum as others have said they connected to voicemail be it 1 second unfortunately they have you there! If you dont like it change provider!?
I like to think I can help but its for discussion purposes only so if I get it wrong please feel free to correct me.

No its not anymore there are some good deals out there, even if you did have a cotract and free minutes it would still use some up if you get someones voicemail
  • wasn't one2one/t-mobile the only mobile company that didn't charge for checking voicemail and they mentioned this heavily in adverts, so I'd assume that others do charge

They still do (I think) Virgin are free to check your voicemail, Even though there kinda the same thing seeing as Virgin is using Tmobiles masts and coverage!

Well its shame i know, but just hang up after a "couple" of rings, theres no way out of the charge, Once your connected your charged!
