The cough will usually settle with antibiotics and benylin if that is what your vet has suggested. It will take a day or two though. Tomorrow should be better but go back to your vet if he seems to get worse0

Aww sorry to hear about your poor boy, I hope he's better soon. Have to mention this, had he had his vaccinations? If not please do them when he can cause he coulda got Parvo & not be here now (Sorry I know that's not nice to hear & you probably realise) xx0

Just keep on with the medicines and make sure he has plenty of fresh water once the antibiotics take affect he will feel better~ bless him.LBM-29/08/07

Kenel cough is only really like the flu - yes, they do feel sorry for themelves, but he will soon be back to normal. Just keep him rested and warm, wometimes a bit of honey in hot water can be soothing.0

You could also try and make a room steamy such as the kitchen (fill sink with boiling water) or bathroom (fill bath with hot water) and sit in there with him for a while. FC is quite correct, kennel cough doesn't cause serious problems unless the dog is young, old or immunocompromised, much like 'routine' illnesses in humans.
Hope your boxer gets better soon.
Also, the vet should have told you, no contact with other dogs for at least three weeks.0 -
Thankfully Perry just had his kennel cough inoculation Thurday ready for his doggy holiday next month.
Don't want to sound dim on this, how/where did your dog get it?
It's just cost me £30.00 but if it stops my dog getting ill then it's worth getting the incoculation isnt it.Life is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?0 -
AFAIK the kennel cough innoculation does not protect against all strains, but most kennels stipulate your dog should have it.0

Kennel cough is so contagious that a dog can pick it up from passing an infected dog in the park.
My lad came back from kennels infected a few years back, time his cough had developed he had infected half the neighbourhood
The inoculations don't mean he wont get KC, he prolly will, just kennels insurances insist on every dog being inoculated to cover themselves against claims0 -
