there seems to be a spate of these at the moment , not sure what the cause is, I'd guess at brute force guessing of weak passwords (ie 6 letters including a nameEx forum ambassador

hya i don't know if you can help but i have just had my email and ebay account hacked and i have had little joy gaining entry back in, microsoft are not much help as they are very slow. i took your advice that u had previously given and downloaded malaware, i have copyed and pasted the details below. if you have any advice for me it would be gratefully received. bernice

Change all your passwords bernie (For any accounts that use money, banking, ebay, paypal, amazon etc)
I would also suggest decent anti virus software and a firewall if you dont have them already:idea:0 -
both passwords were changed and secret question changed. managed to get back into ebay, via the live help, but still cannot get into hotmail. Is my computer secure. I am not technical but how did they do it,
Carp password. If you can find the word in a dictionary, list of names or in a google search, it's no good.0 -
Another no - no is using the same password for multiple accounts.
If it gets found by whatever means, you're in deep carp.0
