Windows looping and restarting?

I had a new laptop sent to me via house insurance {june 9th} as my other one was naffed my the kids. It has been working fine until about 2 weeks ago. I had a windows update pop up but I clicked on ignore until later. Anyway I left laptop on [like i usually do] to go out for about 20 mins. and when I came back I heard the laptop 'start up' which I thought was strange but then thought maybe my daughter had pressed the button? When I looked it's on a loop. When you get to the windows log in it tells me that 3 of 3 updates done 0% finished then it shuts off and I get the blue screen telling me that the computer didn't shut down again. then had the black screen to either start up in safe mode or normally etc. when I use normal it goes back to desktop and then it repeats in a loop as above.
If I click on safe mode it seems to be ok for a bit. I notice if I have other updates or other programmes which require me to restart I get the problem again. If I choose to close it down then start back up that seems to be ok. This problem doesn't happen all the time but it can be a pain in the butt as it will happen a lot at one time then be ok for a few days then go back to doing the looping etc. There is a sticker on the laptop saying 1 year limited international warranty, so 1 thing I was thinking was as I had the laptop only in june should I contact the house insurance company I originally had it from to ask what happens or go through directly through samsung?
I'm sorry about being longwinded but needed a bit of help so thought someone here could help.
The laptop they sent me was Samsung R60Plus Silver Nano Model: NP-R60Y
think that is everything you need to know?
Thanks in advance

http://www.eggheadcafe.com/software/aspnet/31682422/configuring-updates-3-of.aspx
Issue:
After installing updates from Windows Update, you may get into a Reboot loop
where you machines gets to “configuring updates 3 of 3. 0% complete” then
reboots. The machine then continues to reboot.
Solution:
1a. Boot to the Windows DVD and choose the repair option in the lower left
hand corner, choose System Restore, and select a Restore Point predating the
attempted installation of the updates.
1b. If you don't have the DVD and the Vista came preinstalled on the
machine, boot to the Safe Mode options using F8 during startup (tutorial:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial61.html#vista).
Once in Safe Mode, invoke System Restore as follows:
Start | Run | (type in) rstrui.exe | [OK]
Select an available Restore Point predating the attempted installation of
the updates.
Recommendation:
To avoid running into the same problem again, install the following update
separately and ASAP:
A software update is available for the Windows Vista installation software
feature:

Download links for manual installation:

I would try rolling back to a previous good state: I think it might solve all your probs:)BLOODBATH IN THE EVENING THEN? OR PERHAPS THE AFTERNOON? OR THE MORNING? OH, FORGET THIS MALARKEY!

My Oh has just told me this
"The "vista update loop" has been fixed (used knoppix to delete the XML file) but the random shutdowns and startup/shutdown issues have been since then. Plus the issue with msn live not working (other post)"
so do you suggest - Reinstall vista complete, or contact insurance company/samsung to see if its a hardware fault causing the laptop to randomly reboot? Can't think of anything funny to put here!

there is a Vista Repair option on boot , if you have tried that then I would contact the insurance compnay and tell them it's faultyEx forum ambassador
