When can we expect to hear from either simplyswitch or EDF?

Switched online last week but haven't heard from either Simplyswitch or EDF.
We've not switched via a comparison site before so not to sure what to expect, but thought we might have heard from either one by now.
What has been others' experience of the process?

What happens after I submit an application?

We will confirm your application by email and automatically forward your details securely to your chosen energy supplier. The supplier will start processing the switch and will contact you to confirm when your new service will begin; this may take up to 50 days.

  • Hi,

did you hear anything in the end?
I tried to switch from British Gas to Southern Electric via Simplyswitch in October. I rung in November and they said it had gone through within 24 hours. I've just got an email from Southern Electric to say it's the first they'd heard of it.

I did post on here at the time. But I can't find my original post. I think it's fallen off the end.
  • Another instance of SimplySwitch not doing their job? I applied to switch online via the SimplySwitch website on 28 November 2008. I got an email promptly, saying that we would hear from the new suppliers once a switch date had been fixed: this would be sometime between 28 and 45 days from the date of the message.

It's now two and a half months later (more than 70 days), and still no contact from anyone (new or old supplier, or SimplySwitch....). I have emailed SimplySwitch customer services, and await their response. Has anyone else suffered similar problems/delays. And is there scope,I wonder, to press SimplySwitch not just for the £15 cashback, but also to reimburse the money I should have saved on my bills over the last month or two, but have lost because of the long delay?

Read the terms & conditions about "Our liability to you". ;)

My error - SimplySwitch offer £15 Amazon voucher, not cash.

But the point is the same: if they offer to provide a service, and a reward, then it is reasonable for the customer to expect them to deliver it...
