  • I've watched DVD's.

    I've played on the 360.

    I've listened to my Hi-Fi.

    I've been through forums.

    I've done facebook.

    I've done 'financial' stuff

Have ignored the attractive looking takeaway menus and am waiting for a beef lasange to cook.

What do people do when they have no money...there must be more to it than this?

I am thoroughly sick of the sight of these four walls.
  • Why don't you get a few mates round for a movie or poker night??

This is where the pre-planning comes in. What if you'd invited friends around to help you consume a mega beef lasagna? Then next week you'd go to someone elses house for a bite of their cooking.

A 360 party? Take a bottle and have a riotous night.

Good company and good conversation doesn't have to be expensive, and you'll remember a good night with friends far longer than a takeaway meal.

I'm not saying it's a laugh a minute all the time, but with a little bit of planning, you can appreciate the finer parts of life, rather than the "being drunk around complete strangers in a clothing shortage".

Start writing xmas cards .... challenge yourelf to make a tenner tonight online, investigate survey sites / competition sites / join quidco etc .... call an old mate you haven't spoken to for ages for a chat .... have a pamper night / hot bath .... have an early night .... go out but stick to diet coke and find somewhere to dance so you won't be tempted to drink more ;):D

Definately keep yourself busy and as people have said, plan ahead and get stuff to do. Doesn't have to cost much. Go for a walk, go to a museum, visit a gallery, go to the park, see friends...

If you stay in and watch the rubbish on telly it will ultimately get you down. Especially as there is so much pressure on us to have a good time all of the time!

Have you got a partner? Sex is still free.

Read a book? possibly in the bath? I'd do anything to have a day to myself. Although I'd probably spend it washing, ironing, celaning, so pretty much like every other day then.

Today however has been fab. Given the lousy weather forecast we invested the money it would have cost to watch fireworks in the rain in Guitar hero 4 which arrived in the post this morning and is nothing short of fab. The easy level is now such that our 5 year old gets 80% on most songs making her over the moon. The best fun we've had in ages. Well ok since yesterdays Wii tennis tournament which saw us and a few friends competing for a box of chocolates.
