There's also Royal Mail surface mail small packets, but they probably have the same 2kg limit as air mail - and save surprisingly little in some cases.

The Post Office will also offer Parcelforce International Economy, Standard and Global priority parcels at increasing levels of cost.

Parcelforce International Standard (no economy to Europe) is £16.39 at a Post Office for either a 2.1kg or 2.2kg parcel (sorry, forget which I priced, but are probably the same). If you can split it in two, two small packets will total about £2 cheaper.
