Appealing credit card decision

Options
I currently have a Debt Management Plan with the CCCS - I've around £12000 worth of debt but I'm now getting on top of it thanks to this website and the CCCS (who I've been with for almost two years now). My credit rating is really bad though - I've got the credit reports from Experian etc in front of me to prove it. They all seem accurate.

I applied for a card from Vanquis and was rejected in October. I applied to the Aqua card this month and got rejected. I know applying for two cards in a few months is bad but I haven't applied for anything else. I applied for these because I know they are good for people with poor credit ratings.

I have a good, steady job (I just got a pay rise to just over £20000 - which is pretty decent in my part of the UK) and the only reason I have such a bad rating is that I was unemployed a few years back. I want to appear the decision to both cards - what info do you guys think I should put in the appeal? Should I include letters proving my salary? Bank statements?

I don't even want credit! I'd happily give them the money up front - in other words, I'd happily send the credit card £100 before they allow me to spend £100 on the card - this way I'd never be in actual debt. If I offered this, would that help? Any advice would be REALLY greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot!

  • how about. my cash plus. mastercard. if you have no other option at least a card you can use online ect. you pay 9.95 for the card and then 4.95 a month and you can reload at any post office.just used it in the states and excellent.please no messages slagging my cash plus off as some of us have made mistakes in the past and accept that we cant get mainstream products.

If you do not want credit, why are you so bothered about credit cards? If you have a bank account, surely you can ask your bank to give you a debit card and use this instead of a CC. This is very much like your suggestion of paying money upfront before you use it. This is probably a good compromise while you sort our your credit rating and pay off what you currently owe.

Whats the big deal about getting a credit card then if you dont want the credit? I think you have answered your own question really - you say your credit is really bad in the first paragraph, hence the reason you cannot get credit.

I think Capital One card may be an option for you. You give them up to a £200 deposit and they give you the same amount on a credit card. Im still not sure why you need one though but each to their own.
