Best Blu-Ray for £200?

Any ideas?

I'm buying myself an early Xmas present!

I have a Panasonic 32" HDTV, can't remember the model - LM something I think.

Can't beat the PS3 but not for under £200 !

This is a good price compared to other retailers for a Sony standalone player:

    Sony BDPS350
  • Yeah they're selling those in Blockbuster with 6 discs including Wall-E, Hancock & Mamma Mia for £199.

Is the PS3 really as good as standalone players? I'm not a gamer so it doesn't interest me.

The PS3 is an excellent blu ray player and comes out well against blu ray players in many reviews but if your not going to use it for games, streaming from your pc etc then I couldn't recommend paying the extra £100 !

That blockbuster deal sounds good, if you register this player with Sony before January they will send you another 2 blu ray discs free, Casino Royale and Batman Begins so if you do buy it make sure you register using the CD rom supplied !
  • I agree regarding the BDP-S350 - What Hi Fi gave it 5 stars.

The blockbuster deal also includes Iron Man. So Iron Man, Hancock, Wall-E, Mamma Mia. Add free Batman Begins and Casin Royale and that is 6 pretty decent titles.
  • Richer Sounds are selling that player for £170. Is it bulky or quite sleek looking?

Is there a multi-region hack online anywhere?

Ive not yet heard of multi region hacks for ANY bluray player as yet

tells you which discs are 'region free' though

That sony at blockbuster is a bargain. Its a 'slightly' better player than the PS3, but as said above, the PS3 can be upgraded when it needs to be and its also the 'fastest loading' player.

The 2.0 thing is worrying me. Does that mean if I buy the Sony player it may be largely redundant in a year?

    No no
    It still must PLAY blurays
The updates are mainly for 'online' content and things of that ilk
To all intents and purposes, the sony should PLAY films as long as its to bluray specification
