Getting a .com domain name - problems with junk-mail?

I am thinking of getting a .com domain name to complement by .co.uk domain.
My concern is that you have to give details such as your home address (I don't have a separate work address), and there is no 'opt-out' like the WHOIS thing for .co.uk domains.
I aren't too bothered about spam e-mail, which can be filtered; but don't want loads of unsolicited junk coming to my home address just because I've registered a .com.
Have other people with .com domains had any problems? Do you get deluged with rubbish? Do people simply register non-existent postal addresses?
Cheers,

I just signed up for a yahoo.com email address, you have to put a postal code, so I put Yahoo's headquarters postal code 94089 and then changed my account settings to UK.0

Thanks for the reply - I have just realised that I have worded the original post very badly - what I mean is a .com domain name, rather than an e-mail address. Sorry, I should have made that clearer.

Ive never ever had a problem with any domain.. As I use https://www.34sp.com and
always sign upto there anti spam tools..... no probs at all.0 -
The only snail-mail junk I've had has been the odd letter from "The Domain Registry of America" who've tried to get me to transfer to their overpriced service. YMMV, but I've had .co.uk (opted out) and .net addresses for some years now.

Likewise only junk mail at all was from them too. Spam on the other hand......0 -
I have setup business websites with a .co.uk before. Because it is a business, you are not allowed to opt-out of Whois, so the address appears. (See below) The businesses have never had any spam, so I am not sure what the difference between .co.uk and .com is, apart from "The Domain Registry of America" as mentioned previously.0

I setup a .com domain over 4 years ago, and I've only had one piece of snailmail junk in all that time. Even on the domain email I only get a few spammers through to my machine, and I use it for most of my emails.
I used http://www.registerfree.com, which does just what it says on the tin (you only have to pay ICANN), and I've had great service off them...Jumbo
