  • for the guy above that was the same message I got and:

thanks to Baldur i just checked the interest rate = 7.10% !! YES!!!

mind you as I said in my case I tried to open it on the 6/11/08 just before close of business and my funds were showing up on the easy access a/c...so maybe when I contacted the account manager on 7/11/08 they realised it was their mistake and put a note on my a/c to allow me to get the 7.10% when i resubmitted the request - although they never said this to me.

but again the email I got on 11/11/08 was the one above.
  • fingers crossed for you AntiClaus

btw - has something about the site changed when you a logged on to your accoun?? I can't figure out why I couldn't find the interest rate before now!?

..I never did like the Hisave site, always thought Icesave's was much simpler and nice.

too bad I couldn't get my Icesave funds into the Hisave one :( ...still waiting for second Icesave email :(

For HiSAVE Fixed Rate Account, this new interest rate would be applied on all accounts opened by us, on receipt of cleared funds, from November 14, 2008. For HiSAVE Savings Account, this new interest rates would be applied for all exisiting and new accounts opened on and after November 14, 2008.

Can't say that I've ever bothered with e-mails; for the occasional enquiry I've always used the secure 'contact account manager' function after logging in to my accounts or telephoned them.

My account isn't opened yet so don't have that function.

I can't really phone them as I am sick as a dog!! If they haven't replied by Monday I will call them (presuming I can speak again, oh dear!!)

    Oh dear:

How do I cancel my application?
Can I just call my bank and tell them my cheque has been lost and to cancel it?

No from what their email says you get the rate that's advertised when your cheque clears....

You can always cancel your cheque unless you've guaranteed it, whether lost or not, but they might charge you to do so.

Easier to call ICICI (when you can speak - that would be an interesting conversation if you can't understand each other!) and ask them to cancel the application, although they may tell you it has to go through and you must close your account afterwards ==> significant loss of interest.
You've never seen me, but I've been here all along - watching and learning...
