Vauxhall fixed price service

Last year I put my Astra in for its first service at a fixed price. When I picked it up it drove like when I took it in, when I looked at what had been done for around £140.00 it seemed only the oil and filter had been changed and around 10 other items had been visually checked. After obtaining a cd rom issued to Vauxhall dealers (TECH 2000) the cost of an oil change and the visual inspection seems to be considerably less when it it broken down into its component parts rather than the fixed price service. The only plus I can see about the fixed price service is they give a very basic free AA breakdown cover. has any one ask for the same work to be done as in the service handbook and ask to be quoted labour and materials by the book and not as per the fixed price service any comments ?

Any comments? Yes, servicing is a major income source for dealers. It's always couched in terms of "qualified technicians....safety check.....critical.." blah blah blah.Happy chappy0
