hi there,
we are going to italy next august and need to fly to rome or naples. we have used the normal sights to search for flights and alitalia is coming up as the cheapest. now we thought they went bust, so why are they still on the sites? have they been bailed out by the government? we are reluctant to book as you can imagine, can anyone shed some light on this?
thanks

Hi there,
You are right to be worried about the airline. . .as it stands in current news, Alitalia is on the market, and investors are currently confident that they can relaunch the carrier by December, but the flight attendants and pilots for the airline have rejected this takeover because they do not agree with the terms and conditions of the new labor contract. So, the airline may be saved by a solid monetary backing, but without a crew to manage, fly, and otherwise run the business? Highly risky. So, to be on the safe side, I would not purchase flights from them. Choose the second best fare!No Unapproved or Personal links in signatures please - FT30 -

Wait a few weeks until the low cost carriers start selling seats for next summer. You should have more choice then and more chance of getting a better price. Watch out for the Ryanair rip offs though :p0
