Anyone From Bexley area with children in nursery??

Hi
Im looking to talk to anyone who has a young child in nursery in the bexley area (Sidcup, Bexleyheath, etc)

I am currently pregnant and am just trying to get a rough idea how much it will cost to put a baby into childcare if I decide to return to work. At the moment I have a 6 yr old at primary school and I work 10-2.30 mon -fri until ML starts end of November.

So if anyone has any clue how much per hour/session nurseries charge for under 1's could u please let me know :)

Thanks in advance

  • I live in Crayford but my 3 yr old daughter goes to nursery in Gillingham so don't know the local prices but why not ring the council , http://www.bexley.gov.uk/service/children/careplay/regcc.html and they might be able to point you in the right direction . Although unsure of how nurseries work I know my nursery charges from 7am-1pm and then 1pm to 7pm or an all day rate , so as your working hours cover both you might be better off with a child-minder but until you actually ask the nursery you won't know about costs .
Baby Thomas born 3 months early by emergency section on 21/1/09 weighing 1lb 15ozs .
Thomas came home after 3 months and 2 days in hospital weighing 5lb 15ozs
    Thomas weighed 21lb 4ozs on his 1st birthday , a total weight gain of 18lbs 5ozs !

My friends with children in nursery in Bluewater pay £500 and a bit for 3 full days. I think it is around £34 per day which is what I used to pay in Chatham as well.

Your problem is that you are going across the "sessions" ie am and pm and might find a childminder cheaper.

I used to have a childminder in Barnehurst and she was £4 per hr 3 yrs ago (sorry not much help) and she was really flexible.

My other friend has his son in nursery at queen marys hospital and with an NHS discount three full days is £400 odd.
