Any good? portable DVD player £49.99

I've just noticed that Aldi will be selling a Tevion portable DVd player for £49.99, from 13th November. Sounds good, but does anyone have any experience of this DVD player, is it ok?

We bought one from Aldi about 4 years ago. It's been fine - travelled all over with us.

We don't have the dvd player, but do have a Tevion set top box from Aldi, and its fine - had it a couple of years now, no problems at all.

I bought a tevion about 4 years ago and it's still going strong!

My mum bought one of these last time they were on sale. It's fine - can be made multi-region easily IIRC but it doesn't play DivX files (unless it's ben updated). Now, make of this what you will but my mums player broke a few weeks ago but customer service was excellent they picked up and repaired it very, very quickly.

I can't comment on the DVD player but we have had lots of electrical products (including the Tevion brand) from Aldi over the years and been pleased with the quality of all of them.

Thanks for posting this - the great advantage is the 3 year guarantee - and it says it connects to the tv - might have to check this one out! cheers!:beer:

We have the Tevion In Car double screen DVD player from Aldi and been great so far, though only had six months. Have 3 year warranty though so happy with that too

We have this one as well and it's a great piece of Kit. The twin screen one plays divx files out of the box.

We also have a 4 year old single one and it's still going strong but doesn't play Divx.

I presume this new single one will also play divx. I would buy it and see what you think,if not happy take it back within 28 days for a refund.

The point of this forum is to find good value for money, and definitely not to pay through the nose for something which probably just has a different badge on the front! :rolleyes:

Where is the evidence that those more expensive DVD players are actually any more reliable - or do you just rely on snobbery?

we have had this portable dvd player for 2 years and another Tevion one for 4 yrs

never let us play anything we put in them

excellent bit of kit

any Aldi warranty is 3 yrs if it breaks down
