Barclays Cash Card Account

Hi, Anyone give me an idea of the usual time scale to set up this type of account?
I applied three weeks ago, I have returned paperwork with my signature on which they say is a security measure, and upon receipt of they will activate the account.
Nothing since, I have kept ringing the phone number for inquiries on the application form but I just keep getting fobbed off.
Any ideas?

The service level agreement for Universal Banking's mail service is 1 week.

I would suggest visiting your local branch and asking them to have a look to see what's going on and to log a complaint about the time taken.

  • TYVM, for your reply.
I did visit my local branch, over a week ago. The lady I spoke to said she couldn't do much on her system.
I have phoned the helpline number about four times in a week.
All they do is ask for my post code, and tell me that they cannot find me on the system. They keep saying that it takes 2 weeks to process the initial application and then another 2 weeks, from receipt of the security document, to issue the account number and sort code.
About making a complaint would that have to be done in my local branch or is there a contact number for this type of thing?

Can be done in branch or by calling 0800 282 390, dedicated line for Retail Bank Customer Relations.

I had a problem with HSBC as they messed my application.
It's annoying to have to make a complaint even before you are a customer! So, if it already starts in this direction you better look for another institution.

i tried opening an account in branch in sept, i went back about 2 weeks after they sent off the application for me (having checked it) was told there was a delay, could take up to 4 weeks, about a week later, the application came back coz i hadn't filled in one box. needless to say, threw the application form away. opened a halifax easycash account online instead, took about 1 week.
  • I'd open a Halifax Easycash account if I was you. You get an Electron card and Internet banking. Much better than Barclay's offering.
