Halifax Bank Charge

 Hi there I'm not sure if I am posting this in the right place so please move if it is wrong
I have been charged £30 today by the Halifax for a direct debit not being paid on time. I am on benefits as I am a single mummy with baby at home. I have rang the Halifax to see if there is anything they could do and they said there is not. I have been left with £27 to live off until next friday which isn't really workable. Is there anything I can do apart from reclaiming which in the long run is good but doesn't help this coming week.
Any advice will be appreciated and many thanks in advance

Try contacting their customer relations on 08457 25 35 19 and explain your situation - tell them that you feel they're being unsupportive of your troubles.

Yes Charlotte.
If this is the first time you have had a charge like this, ring them up and explain your situation (tell em you havent got any nappies etc)and say you wont do it again, then ask could they give you back the payment as a goodwill gesture and you will never do it again.
Its worth a try ..doesnt always work but they can only say no cant theyIf you dont ask you dont get!!0 -
Beware! Halifax charge £30 for the initial going over your limit, then at the end of the month another £25 (about that, less than £30). It's ridiculous. They charged this to me once and because it was an account I hardly used I didn't have money to pay the £25 so went into an unauthorised overdraft and they charged me again!
Also don't ring the 0845 number. Go to here for alternative numbers: http://www.saynoto0870.com/search.php0 -
many thanks everyone. Have rang their customer relations but they won't refund as I have had one refunded about three years ago that I had forgotten about. Great! Any ideas for making quick cash?Ipoints- Cashed in for prezzybox and amazon items - 1,983 now. £50 Amazon voucher
