What does your local council do for disabled people?

Inverclyde Council Mine has a couple of schemes for disabled and/or older people:
Blue Badge Scheme link (By the way in Inverclyde you automatically qualify for a Blue Badge if you are over 80 years old.)

Birmingham City Council has the Blue badge scheme for definite - they even crack down on those people caught fraudulently using one as they will ring the badge holder at home to check.
Another thing that they do which is more for older people but no reason why anyone else can't take advantage and that is to have a list of approved traders who won't rip off the elderly and infirm.
They probably do other things too.0 -
