Decent hotel in Newcastle city centre?

I'm looking for a cheap but decent hotel in Newcastle city centre, just for one night for 2 people on Easter Monday 2009 but will need to book it fairly soon. I stayed in one opposite the train station years ago and it was OK, think it might have been the Thistle but can't remember! Could anybody recommend one or point me in the direction of any special offers? Thanks.
