i wonder could anyone help, my nice reliable Aiwa video died last week and i have put in my very old Matsui video. unfortunatly it does not have a scart input and i get interferance on the screen when my freeview box is powered on (fine in standby) the freeview box is a humax fox-f2.
i was wondering if it is because the freeview is a digital output that i cannot get a picture through the video using the rf input? i can only tape channels 1-4 the rest are from the box!
i do not want to buy a new video as for a decent nicam one they are noy that cheap. i would buy a dvd harddrive unit if quite cheap!
any help would be appreciated.
thanks.

It depends if your Freeview box has an RF output or not (they all have RF loop though)
If your box does have RF out, you simply need to tune your video to the RF channel used by the Freeview box (this channel may be variable either by a screw on the rear of the unit or via a on screen menu option) This RF output channel needs to be adjusted so that it does not interfere with the other terrestrial channels in use. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
You could change the RF channel on the Fox-t which may eliminate the problem. It should be in the setting some where. I have the Fox-t myself but don't have it close at hand, but I used this option to see if I could get a better picture as I also had a very slight interference and it worked.0

i will have a look through the fox booklet and see if it can be done.0

Manual is online

Its 10mb though and its slow today to download, only getting 20k/sec0 -
If it's all RF, then you need to be sure that the freeview box and VCR RF outputs are on different channels and don't interfere with reception either.
They may be outputting the same channel, or possibly also/instead, if you haven't used that video for quite a long time, it may be still tuned to a channel that now receives analogue Channel 5.
Or it could all be simpler, as the others say - make sure that the output channel from the Freeview box corresponds to a separate tuned channel input to the VCR; call it channel 9 or 0 or something in there.
And maybe also tune up another input channel in the TV for the Freeview when the VCR is not in use, so the TV would have 1 to 5, Freeview and VCR
sorry about this, I could even confuse myself

It will be the Rf channel on the fox-t interfering with the video rf, so they need to be wider apart. You can do this with either fox-t or the video but as I don't no that video player preferences I do no the fox-t has a setting where you can change it.
If you after a device recording the Humax pvr range 8000T or the 9200 are great pieces of kit. I got all three products and started with the fox-t 2 years ago last Christmas0 -
cheers redux, i think the rf output for the box and vrc are the same as this makes the picture look as if you need both vertical and horizontal hold.
cannot find any info in the manual about changing the rf output, probably looking at it and just not finding it (mrs t says i cannot find anything, and she is always right) so i will email hummax as they usually come up with the goods. great customer service department.
as to the pvr status, i looked at them 3 months ago when i got the fox but couldnt justify the extra as i had a perfectly good video! that was then, this is now.0 -
The UHF tunning is in preferences as I have just checked.
Preferences/UHF Tuning
UHF Channel (mine is 36) but has no av equipment near mine now other than tv)
just chnage it to a different channels. My first post was what I innital meant that the rf channels are interfering with each other.0 -
It's probably in an on-screen menu somewhere, like the ex-ITV one I have0
