Does anyone know of any website that I could download winzip for free please?
I 'thought' I'd just found somewhere, downloaded it, installed wtc and when I got my hopes up and tried to zip something it asked for my credit card details (flase hope!)
Can anyone help please? Its for a Windows 98 machine.
Thank you

download the evaluation from the publisher's site.
winzip is NOT a free product, nor is the much more useful winrarUtinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0 -
I second 7 zip. We use Winrar at work (although we paid to have them licensed)."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

J-zip has a better interface than 7-zip - it's more akin to Winzip. It's based on 7-Zip and is also freeware.0

Can't comment on J-zip, but can confirm 7-zip will work on Win98se.Move along, nothing to see.0

Power archiver used to be freeware and is OK, works on 98 and XP.
You can get it at oldversion. http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=powarc
the 2001 version I use is 6.11.0 -
Lifehacker asked its readers recently and 7zip clearly won:

I've always used Winrar but I decided to give 7zip a chance.
After using it for a month I think Winrar is better, but 7zip is much faster starting up and I like that its icons are different for each kind of archive.
I'm sticking with 7zip now.0
