Hi Chunky and a belated welcome,,good news on the dressage. Can I ask why you don't have house/buildings insurance in your budget?
Off the top of my head i couldnt tell you however i think the 107 i totaled for the life assurance/endowments might have had the buldings/contents added to it IYSWIM.
When i'm next home i'll take a look at it.
On another note i know the car insurance seems high but that is for my volvo estate my partners 4x4 pickup and my step sons learner car(ouch!!!!!)Those who risk nothing, Do nothing, achieve nothing, become nothingMFW #63 £0/£5000 -

well after looking at my DD for this month and then my paydays and realising that i was mortgage free for a month I thought what the hell and have decided to try and stretch my 4 weekly paychecks out to calender monthly meaning i'll be in a position to clear a huge chink of my debt next year in foul swoop, assuming i pull it off,
the wa i see it is that i get paid every 28 days and the longest month is only 31 days so if i can make my money last a further 3 days each month then i'm home and dry providing i can resist the urge later in the year to dip into the wages that will sit in a savings account unitl the 1st of the month!
wish me luck!!!!Those who risk nothing, Do nothing, achieve nothing, become nothingMFW #63 £0/£5000 -
Sounds like a great idea Chunky, it would put you into a strong position and in your case, it would appear to be do able. :TOfficial DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0

Yeah that was what i thought. It will be a struggle dont get me wrong as i've never managed to get my wages to last 3 weeks let alone the whole 4 plus a couple of days but if you look at my SOA bar the loan which isnt repayable in lump sums the one 'free' wage a year would pay off my partners credit card bill in one hit!
ONe can but try as they say. All i know is feruary will be a welcome month due to it's length!:DThose who risk nothing, Do nothing, achieve nothing, become nothingMFW #63 £0/£5000 -
Are you going to have your wage paid into an account and then transfer across what's needed to pay the direct debits etc on the 1st of the month into the bills account.
I suppose that's what's tricky about being paid 4 weekly, you get used to money landing at different times.
What date is your next pay day?Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -

I allready have a bill account set up so that will be used as normal transfering the money i need in it as and when i get paid and then whats left will be put in my high interest savings account until the first of the month when it gets moved back to my current acount.
I get paid this wednesday(3rd) and then again on the 31st hence to my midn it being the ideal time to start it as the 31st wages will be near as damm it the 1st allowing me to start the process at the ideal time.
Last month was the first month i have not used any credit which just about worked. I had to dip into the money i had set aside for a vet's bill but only £50 as a just incase i've forgotton a DD etc etc.
This month will then be a month for conserving funds as best as i can what with it being Xmas followed by Jan i can start the calender month wage process with a clean slate. By then my OH's CC will also have been BT'd to my new 0% card and i will have convinced her that living off credit is a bad thing and she will come on board totally. Those who risk nothing, Do nothing, achieve nothing, become nothingMFW #63 £0/£5000 -
Woo Hoo, as you say, your payday at the end of the month works out ideally, that was what I was wondering, how long you had to wait to get paid on or at the 1st.
You can but try and anything that is left will be a bonus.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -
well i've started this month as I mean to go on by making a proper start on my sealed pot challenge although not using a sealed pot yet.
plus on top of that I've started a couple of basic spreadsheets. One to keep track of my monthly spending and one so i can keep a track of the xmas shopping. Those who risk nothing, Do nothing, achieve nothing, become nothingMFW #63 £0/£5000 -
Well it's beena while since i posted so i thought i'd update.
The basic spreadsheets i did last month lasted till about the 15th when i gave up on them and it all went a wrong due to christmas. fortunately due to the way i got paid i had the fund avaliable to pay for Xmas without using credit which is something i suppose.
This month however I will manage it come hell or high water!
Unfortunately my car is on it's last legs literally and is at the point where it could let go any minute(180,000miles on the clock and 3k a month atm) so i'm needing to change the car asap. It needs to be a reasonable car due to the mileage i do and if it goes wrong public transport isnt an option so unfortunately i rekon credit is the only real option. !!!!!!!!!!!
On a bright side though all CC's are now on one 0% till march 2010 so we are now £200 in interest a month better off which will help.
And on an even brighter side my stepdaughter did a dressage comp on the 20th which she did absolutely superb on. Our green nag came away with a first in the walk and trot class and sparky our little pony got a 2nd and third in the 2 prelim tests he did.
here she is once back at the yard looking very happy with herself
And this was our big boy xmas morning. his first ever Xmas with us so he got spoilt rotten with a new stable rug and a nech cover for his turnout rug. Those who risk nothing, Do nothing, achieve nothing, become nothingMFW #63 £0/£5000
