Hi ! I'm new to the forums today and just had to register to tell you how yesterday I saved £28.45 whilst Christmas Shopping..... just by haggling ! .... and of course the MSE restaurant tips... because, in my world, it's the law to have a meal and glass of wine at the end of a shopping day ! - so M, thank you for the Zizzi's 2for1 tip.
Ex-Display candle £ 3.95 * reduced to * £3.00 *saved £0.95*
This beautiful white candle was slightly dusty and had no box, but is really unusual and had a jewel in it, ( so hence magpie here had to have it for another Dollie friend ). On discussing this with lovely shop Manager, with smile on my face, she said "I'll let you have it for £3". I didn't need telling twice !
Multi tool gadget £10.00 * reduced to * £8.00 *saved £2.00 and free gift wrap*
Upon examining 6 of these lovely little tools, all were slightly marked and when the shop assistant ultimately offered me 10% to compensate, I umm'd and ahhh'd, and asked if she could "do any more than 10%", .... she said, "oh, go on then, 20% and I'll wrap it, how's that ?" How could I refuse ?!
Designer Shirts £160.00 * reduced to * £144.00 * saved £16.00 *
Picture the scene, really expensive gents tailor shop (never been in one in my life !).. just browsing with the partner for his Xmas going out shirt, he tried several on and I loved two of them... fortunately we both liked the same two, being very mindful to ask his opinion prior to offering mine! Was pretty non-committal to the very trying shop assistant who was lovely. When I asked "What could you do for me for both of these", he offered me 10% if I signed up to his mailing list. He would not budge another inch and told me "only regular customers get the discount ordinarily". I asked him if he would prefer cash and he told me there would be no further discount even if I paid cash. £16 was better than nothing.. and the partner does look dishy in the shirts !
Zizzi 2for1 Pasta * saved £9.50 *
I'm not sure if am allowed to talk about how this was, but will be going again before 23rd November when the voucher deal runs out !
I've subscribed to this email for a couple of months now .. if anyone's interested will let you know where I've saved a bit more money with M's tips, but don't wish to bore anyone !
Have a nice day x

Well done on your haggling. It is quite common to be able to negotiate discounts for display stock etc. When I bought my washing machine and dish washer Comet had an offer on the pair for whatever price it was but one of them would have been the display model, so I said I wanted a discount on it as well to which they said no, so I said byee, went to Curry's and got a better deal.
BTW you saved 95p or £0.95 not 0.95p (that would be less than 1p).....0 -
Thanks davetrousers for your educational tip, have amended accordingly... was so excited as I type at Mach 3, didn't even notice ! Well done your with your WM/DW purchases.:smileyhea Dollie0
