Tcp/ip .. Subnet Mask , Default Gateway

IP ADDRESS ... SUBNET MASK .... DEFAULT GATEWAY

i know that the ip address must be unique and that the subnet mask identifies which net and that the d/g is the way out of a particular lan/wan but can someone explain or give me a website that explains protacol in lamens terms

im doing a+ and n+ in january and really need to get a grip of this subject as well as osi layers

any advice on the above would be gratefully received

a cheat sheet for the exam would be nice aswell ... lol
