Baileys fudge

Options
I saw that Tescos are selling bottles of Baileys for £7 until this weekend so I'm going to buy some and make baileys fudge for xmas. Anyone know how long it will keep for? And does anyone have any ideas on how to wrap it so that it looks pretty and keeps well? I'm not very good at that type of thing.

  • Just a thought to save you a couple of quid, Lidl do their own version of Baileys for under a £5, it's called Queen Margot and it's every bit as nice (I can't tell the difference). If you've not got a Lidl nearby then maybe Aldi have something similar.

Sorry can't help with the wrapping thing tho, useless at that myself!

I've never tried this recipe myself, (although I think I might now!) but generally fudge will keep for at least 2 months without showing any ill effects at all because there is so much sugar in it.

An airtight container for storage will help, or plastic bags with the air sucked out using a straw and then tied tight, or cling film.

PLastic bag and clingfilm wrapped portions can be put into any sort of container to make them suitable for the recipient ( coloured flowerpot or indoor watering can for a gardener, jewellery box, trinket box, hollowed out book) or into brightly coloured stiff paper bags, or decorate the plastic or clingfilm with ribbons etc etc.

Lakeland sell beautiful cellophane bags - I have Jewel coloured ones I put sweeties in at Christmas ( got them a few years ago - but am sure they will do something similar) _ they are usually around £2 for 30 bags. You could prepare it earlier than required and keep in a tupperware and just wrap them a few days before required. Good Luck!

  • Ooh, I think I'm going to give this a go - thanks for that! The little tip about the bags was very useful too - thanks. :)

  • I usually make Baileys fudge each year for gifts.
Keep it in a container in the fridge until about 2 weeks before christmas.Put in the afore mentioned Lakeland cellophane bags or shiney gift paper (the type thats not paper on one side)then keep it somewhere cool. If you keep it in the fridge it can keep for 3 months easily( with the receipe that i use anyway)
Another tip i have is to use the cheaper 'copy' versions of Baileys. You honestly will not notice when its in the fudge. After all Baileys and over ice just cant be beat.... So use your copy for the fudge and drink the original

    HTH :)

My ASDA currently has Baileys for £5 a bottle. It also has a copy for £3.49.
