Going to mexico Pesos or Dollars?

Im going mexico in a weeks time am i best to get pesos with the dollar not as good against the pound latest rates ive got 19.49 pesos to the £1 or 1.56 dollars to the £1 can anyone help me out.

Exchange rate aside, I found when I went (a few years ago) that nowhere took Dollars, you had to get them changed out there into Pesos anyway.

I went and most places did take Dollars but if you sat and worked out the difference you tended to pay more in Dollars as oppose to the same in Peso's.

I think it depends where you go - I backpacked from Mexico city where I spent most of my time and moved from town to town up to San Diego. I guess they're more likely to take dollars nearer the boarder!?
