Keep in mind that you might end up locking up your account by messing around in there before they send out the 2nd email......

I can't see how, my account works fine as logged in twice today. The "initiate claim" link quite clearly states when you click it that it will work when you get your email (i.e. your second email). Nothing about it "locking" your account, seems like pure scaremongering to me.

    Sound advice!

  • Why, oh why are people logging in or trying to log in and click on things?
The FSCS have clearly advised to do NOTHING until the second e-mail has been received!
Is it impossible to comprehend and comply with quite clear instructions?
I also want my money back as soon as possible but for crying out loud wait!

I generally check my Icesave account balances using Egg's 'Your Money' Money Manager and when I do so, up pops all of the Icesave account balances, all as usual, along with my other accounts.

When I click on an Icesave link within 'Your Money' it duly takes me to the 4th November letter page, rather than the Icesave Account Balances summary page.

There is a 'Log in' button to the top RHS on this Icesave letter page but I haven't clicked on it. From what others have said, a click on 'Log in' would merely take me back to the letter page and I have already explained, that I should already technically be logged in, just as I was within the Egg's 'Your Money' facility.

Anyhow, I'll wait for my 2nd Icesave FSCS e-mail. It sounds as though it shouldn't be too long in coming.

I noticed the Icesave letter page still has Icesave graphics on it. I was expecting it to be skeletoned down considerably to assist in download speeds for the inevitable mad rush of customers when, once the go ahead is given, we all try to take our money out all at once.

When that happens, I wonder if the site will hold up or whether it will crash?

The guys who are in charge of it, well, you have to give them 11/10. Therefore, I reckon it will actually do the job, hold up and NOT crash.

We won't all be able to take out our money at once. That is why they are sending out emails in batches to allow only a certain amount of transfers to take place at one time.

OK. I accept that. However, we will nevertheless be doing it "in batches all at once".

And then another batch, but "not quite so all at once as it was the first time" though, I would guess.

    And then another, etc, etc.

    !!!Word of Warning!!!

Ch4 news were saying the 2nd Icesave FSCS e-mail telling people about their Accounts and how to access them is in the wild so beware of "phishing" emails. (Phishing is the use of a legit looking email sending you to a fake site to collect your account details.)

Never just click the link in ANY email. Safer to type in the address manually.

You'll probably get a legit email but "BE CAREFUL" :D

Logging in now isn't going to lock your account, reformat your hard drive, poison your dog or anything else untoward. The first email said you can't initiate your claim until you get the second email but it didn't say you can't log in to check your balance or change your details. If they didn't want people logging in then they wouldn't have made it possible to log in.

    Awwwe, why not?

People will be running out of things to complain and moan about before long. Then what?
