Hi. I am the newly appointed treasusrer of a voluntary community group who have a bank account with HSBC. I am in the process of becoming a verified signitory on the account. We were £200 overdrawn a few weeks ago and it now seems we are £400 overdrawn as we are being charged £8 a day! I feel powerless to do anything and think its wrong as the bank know we are a community group. (we are a girls dance club) At this rate we will take 8 months to reapy the bank and the debt is growing - our group will fold at this rate. I am going to try and speak to the bank today but not got any idea if they will talk to me if they haven't processed my application to become a signatory yet. Its taken over 2 weeks - they are dragging their heels and charging our account all the while! The girls who is on the acount is no good with finances - hence the mess - i dont think she understands what is happening. Can Anyone offer any advice?

Ask them to stop the charges, explain you are a voluntary community group and you are now being put in charge because the original holder isn't very good with money and it will take an extremely long time (don't mention 8 months) to pay back.
However, it should really be upto the girl who was originally incharge to pay it back.0
