Do the tax office need to see that certificate?
And how do I get the UTR to register online?0 -
The invoice for the cost of the assessment should be kept as it is an expense incurred but you don't have to show the tax office the actual certificate.0

Cheers Sun Lover
Just need to know how to go about registering on-line
The site says you need the UTR plus NI number ( not a problem )
The help section says the UTR is issued by the HMRC when you register for self assessment0 -
...Understand you need to keep the docs for 6 years, but from people's experience, do they ever ask to see evidence for small amounts?
If you don't have the evidence to back up the relief, don't claim for it, especially if it's just a small amount.
Once the taxman starts to suspect you, not only will they investigate that years tax return but will look at all your financial details going back years (six I think).
Not something you would wish on your worst enemy."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
Write a letter or telephone your tax office - advise them that you need to file SA returns and they will issue you with a UTR.0
