Fraud Entry in Credit File

Sun
Sun Posts: 326 Forumite
I have recently checked my annual free credit file and there is a fraud alert on it, with a name (whom I don't know) and my old address (where I used to live 3 years back!)

Following is the description:

fraud description:Application fraud - grantedtransaction type:Insert

I don't know what to do?
Is it Normal ?
Should I contact credit agency or company name listed with above fraud ?

Thanks for Help...
All I ask is the chance to prove that money can't make me happy.

I got my Equifax credit report and it seems its a CIFAS entry with following explaination:
Application Fraud (Facility Granted) -- Use of name reasonably believed to be genuine, but with one or more material falsehoods in personal details or other relevant information -; the facility was granted.

It was from Orange. should I write to Orange?

    Don't bother writing to Orange.

A CIFAS warning has been put on your previous address. If you want further nfo check out the CIFAS website.

Basically someone who has lived at your previous address has applied for credit and been given it but there were falsehoods in the application. It warns credit companies that the address has been involved in fraudulent or suspected fraudulent activity.

When you apply for credit it means that your application will probably be looked at by a human rather than the computer says no. Nothing to worry about in this case.
