Abbey National - free business banking for life.... Had one years ago for an old business - never charged for anything.

I've opened a business a/c with the A&L - free banking with decent interest rates. Their internet banking program is rather old and not up to other's standards but it's being updated shortly.
  • I know Lloyds TSB don't charge for the first year. They have several freebies included like free freephone number/listing on yell.co.uk. Then after the year, you could either renegotiate with you nak manager or switch somewhere else like Abbey who never charge. If you can be bothered to switch banks every year or so, most have a 'switcher package' which usually involves free banking for a certain period.

I'm with Bank of Scotland, they only charge 40p for cheques, nothing else as long as in credit and that's guaranteed forever.

We're with HSBC for our busienss account and it is free banking for the first year.
  • Most banks will offer free banking for at least first year(some longer) as an incentive to open an account.
If you open an account they may also offer you a decent personal account as part of the package that you may not be eligible for in the normal course of business.
