my late fathers estate

sorry if this is posted in the wrong thread but on 16th of september me and my sister had a phone call from our nan (who we haven't seen in about 20 years) telling us that our father had died 2 weeks before.he was not married and me and my sister are his only children. (i also haven't seen him for 20 but my sister saw him about 10 years ago). his girlfriend of about 20 years did not want us at the funeral so we were never contacted untill our nan found out my sisters number.my nan seems to think that my father had no will and it should go to me and my sister (no property or anything just belongings and stuff). we have been to a solicitor and had a creveat put on for the probate and have had little contact with his girlfriends solicitor who says there is a will but have not got the stuff together for it andhas asked what we intend to do with the creveat. our solicitor wrote back asking for a copy of the will and then we would deside what to do but the soticitor on his girl friend side seems reluctant to show us a copy. i am just wondering if there is really a will as it is said that his girlfriend daughter is the executor anyone with and idea please lrt me know what you think
we are not after money just things like photos and sentimental stuff so we have something to show our children who never met him. his mum says he keep up to date with every thing in our lives but didn't won't up set the water as his girlfriend didn't like him having anything to do with us

Hi, I'm sorry I can't really give you any advice, but am sure as you have a solictor working for you it will get sorted out. It may be however that you will not be able to get what you want but perhaps your nan can help with photos and such?We don't stop playing because we grow old; We grow old because we stop playing.0

As his children you are entitled to see his will. Not only entlitled, you should be contacted by his solicitor in the first place (or whoever is going to sort out his estate).0
