my ford focus 1.6 petrol with 56k tonight i started to smell petrol inside it when sitting stationary idling.
ive had a quick look underneath but couldnt see any leaks in the dark.
just wondering if anyone else has had this happen to thiers and what the cause was.
i will have a better look over the weekend.
the fuel filter looks a bit of a pain to get to in the haynes manual, hope its not that, though it is due changing in 7k miles.

It could just be fumes from the engine side coming through the air vents?:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. Get it checked over.
I once smelt petrol inside my Vectra. A friendly AA man went directly to the source of the smell which was a perished seal on the top of the petrol tank, there was a little puddle of petrol under my back seat all the time!
Glad I dont smoke...

i thought you were going to tell me i should have bought a golf.
it only happens when stationary,at first i thought it was the car in front of me at the lights but it was there ages after that with nothing in front....work permit granted!0 -

happened my 206 once, as someone else said, a seal or something on the fuel tank had broken or worn away. luckily mine was inside it's warranty period cos apparantly it needed a whole new petrol tank (i didn't question it too much since i wasn't paying)Wiggly:heartpulsFB0
