I have a pack of baked potatoes which I want to have for lunch for various days over the next week.
I was wondering, would I be able to bake them in the oven all at once and then keep them in the fridge and just reheat in microwave as I need them?
I'm just conscious of saving gas by cooking them all at once.
Thanks,
Dave

You could do that but baked potatoes aren't nearly as nice when reheated. They go a bit soggy and taste slightly nutty.
Much nicer freshly cooked .

That's maybe the case, but caterers get boxes of baked potatoes in that have been pre-baked and frozen. So then they are just re-heated prior to serving.
So, Dave, you can bake all your Tatties in a oner and then reheat them.0 -
I never order jacket potatoes when I'm eating out for this very reason, they taste horrible. But if the OP likes the sort of Jacket spud you get when your out in a pub etc then he can go ahead... his choice.

i would only eat a reheated jacket potato if i had cooked one too many (ie if sombody cant come round or tea at the last minite) and that would be taken to work the next day to be heated up as leftovers. only in a waste not want not manner!Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"0

I've been doing this for the last couple of weeks - baking 2 or 3 in my remoska and reheating in the microwave at work. Have to admit.. really surprised how nice they were.. much nicer than purely microwaved ones.
Why don't you try and see how you get on?0 -
I do this regularly for work and batch cook a few potatoes, scoop out the insides mash with cheese, and ham fill back in and cook again in the oven. Once done leave to cool wrap and put in freezer.
The night before i take 1 out to defrost and then ding in micro at work. If you can buy frozen jackets with cheese and ham i can make and freeze them! everyone at work is impressed especially if i take a side salad I struggle eating bread and pasta so you,ve got to think. Aldi are selling a bag of baking potatoes for £0.69 so i have dinners made for nearly 2 weeks for the price of a can of coke

I love them when they have been cooked in the oven and reheated in the micro,
I think they taste nicer - must just be me;)0 -
I zap mine in the microwave first and then finish them, coated in oil, in the oven. The "all oven" method is best, but this "hybrid" method gives a reasonable result in a reasonable time with reasonable energy cost.
I am also currently working on the definitive "baked potato soup" recipe. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -

Sorry excuse my dumbness. I am trying to pull our grocery spends down to bare minimum to allow for some nice cakes/treats plus balanced diet. In addition to this cooking is an issue. It's OH responsibility to prepare evening meal and he has the culinary skills of a gnat but he can do hob heating, boiling rice/pasta, oven cooking wedges etc. I am planning the months meals around bulk cooking and freezing.
My OH says he would like baked potatoes 1-2 times a month for a change. He only liked crispy skinned ones so i usually wash then pierce skins a few times then rub over with a bit of kitchen paper dipped in oil then in the oven to slowely bake.
Does anyone have any idea how long these would keep in the fridge?? Are they freezable? would the skins still be crispy??
Sorry for the dumbness but i really have no idea.MF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/20000
