cant get credit

i have 2 credit cards and together they total almost £7000 i am unable to get another card with a lower interest rate as i have a bad credit rating, and no other person will lend me some money, what can i do?

  • have you tried to get a credit card with a good rate for the life of transfer and that way at least you should benifit from not paying the exhorbitant rate that will be on the other cards. If that fails then you need to work out what you can afford to pay and try to get the companies to freeze the intrest rate so at least you gat a fair chance of repaying the debt amicably

First thing to do is to check your credit reference files to see exactly why you are getting refused credit. Otherwise you will become trapped in an application/rejection spiral.

Once you've done this you'll have a clearer idea exactly what's going on and you may be able to improve your credit rating and get better cards.
  • I would ask myself how I managed to be £7000 in debt and wonder why I have bad credit rating. Sorry to appear blunt but you have to tackle the source of the debt not the easy option of transferring it to a lower rate card.
If your credit history is shot then spend some time making an Income and Expenditure spreadsheet, see where you can cut back and put all surplus funds towards these debts.
Post here your income and outgoings to see if we can help further.
